Homestay in Quebec City with Local Families

homestay accommodation in quebec city

Host families consist of local francophone families, selected to ensure an optimal, culturally rich experience. Students are matched with a family by the accommodations coordinator based on her knowledge of their interests and profile, and the information she receives from student through the application form.

In order to be accepted to the program, families submit an application, along with references and police background checks for all residents 18 years and older. City information

"The Most French City in North America".Founded by Champlain in 1608, Quebec City is one of the world's most picturesque cities. Filled with the charms of a bygone age, it also boasts the modern urban conveniences of fine restaurants, outdoor cafés and a lively night life. The cradle of French civilization on the American continent, it was the first city in North America to be included on UNESCO's prestigious list of World Heritage Sites. Old Quebec City is a completely walled town reminiscent of the great cities of Europe. Quebec City's ramparts, gates and cannons, narrow cobble stoned streets, centuries-old greystone houses, majestic churches and the famous Château Frontenac with its medieval-looking gables and turrets, have made it the 16th most visited city in the world. So much to do.

You will find more than 20 museums in the city including many unique and unusual ones, such as the Urban Life Interpretation Center and the magnificent Museum of Civilization. To discover how the region's rich past blends in with contemporary daily life, tour the winding streets of the old City, visit Place Royale, Parliament Hill, Notre Dame Basilica and Terrasse Dufferin, stop for lunch at the Grande Allée, or take a short trip to quaint Ile d'Orléans, Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré, the nearby Huron Village or breathtaking Montmorency Falls.

What former students are saying about our French Programs

This experience has been life charging for me. As a language teacher (of Spanish), it was rewarding to participate in the immersion courses. They were carefully structured to bring out the best in all abilities, and were extremely enjoyable. The cooking class was another step in the immersion, learning both cooking and language by doing! The people in Quebec are so accommodating and kind. l know will say, when I see the license plates that say “Je me souviens” – “Moi aussi” the memory will never leave me.
Merci !

Carol – USA

I like that school offers classes to students of all ages. At 42 I was never feeling too old to study here. Thanks!

Sandra – Canada

During my two weeks in the program, l made many new friends and improved my french greatly. I was nervous about the experience at first, but later open minded to all aspects of the program. I gained lots of independence during my stay in Quebec doing things like taking the bus to and from school, walking around in Vieux Quebec, and spending time speaking french with my host family. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone willing to improve their french over the summer, one just have fun.

Philippa – USA

It's a wonderful opportunity to study french, make new friends from all over the world, learn about the Quebecois culture, and also learn a thing or two about yourself! The french program here is amazing, and no matter what your skill level, you will always feel welcome and as if you belong here. The staff is very hard working, compassionate, and caring, and will do anything they can to fix any problem you may have. It's really a great adventure!

Nina – USA

I would recommend the FSL teacher program to any educator looking for an individualized program. The instructors are always prepared, the materials are well chosen and the extra-curricular activities provide opportunities for meaningful cultural experiences in a vibrant Francophone milieu. I am already planning my next Quebec adventure!

Domenica – Canada

You offer a great program that not only helps you learn the french language, but introduces you to the Quebecois culture as well.

Joe – Canada

I had a fabulous experience. I took a course in “French for Teachers,” and I was pleasantly surprise by the large amount of individualized attention I received as I perfected my French and learned about Quebec culture. I had the opportunity to speak with various instructors on how to teach various French lessons, and I found the experience invaluable as I teach French today back in the U.S. I very much enjoyed the cultural trips; I explored museums, attended concerts, and absorbed as much of the culture as I could. I even got the opportunity to go whale watching! I really enjoyed that I learned a lot in a laid-back and fun amosphere. I will definitely be going back to Quebec City in the near future! Thank you!

Jose Andy – USA

I found Quebec to be a friendly and welcoming place with a great deal going on: for instance the music festival and the events celebrating the city’s 400th anniversary. The classes tended to focus on culture (history, literature, theatre, films, music) which suited me down to the ground. I cannot praise the teachers enough; they were careful to take account of their students’ interests, were generous with their time outside school hours and adapted skillfully to the dwindling number of students in the last couple of weeks. About my accommodation, the family was very pleasant giving me the opportunity to learn lots of slang and colloquial French. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my summer studying with youv Best wishes,

Daniel – England
