Weather

Arid or desert coastal areas are often covered by low clouds and persistent fogs (garua) which explains why Lima always knows fresh winters, in spite of the proximity of the equator. The slopes of the Andes, with the climate more moderated, are characterized by a strong thermal amplitude and a wet season, while the tropical basin of Amazonia records precipitations all year.

On the coast the average temperatures oscillate between 14 C and 27 C while the high plateau knows a cold and dry time almost all the year, with temperatures going from 9 C to 18 C, the rain season goes from December to May. The jungle enjoys a hot and wet climate; the temperatures vary from 25 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius.
