Weather |
The Austrian climate changes with altitude. Spring and autumn are soft, and the summers are short with moderate temperatures. The winters are often cold and last approximately three months, where they usually finish with the arrival of the "foehn", a hot and dry wind of the south accompanied by a sudden fog which precipitate avalanches. The "foehn" is important for the agricultural production of Austria, allowing early culture in the valleys.

Capital |
This is what Vienna is famous for ... a unique combination of nostalgia for the times of the monarchy, and enthusiasm for contemporary trends. Skyscrapers "scratch" the sky, from Gothic St. Stephen's Cathedral to the recently completed Millennium Tower. The attractions of the romantic imperial city include the splendid Imperial Palace and magnificent Schönbrunn Palace. And the old city is perfectly complemented by the postmodern Haas House.
Elegant Art Nouveau, opulent Baroque and picturesque Biedermeier invite visitors to stroll through the past. And the newly developing skyline of the city on the Danube offers a view of the future.
