The school, not far from the magnificent beaches of Maceio, occupies a wide well fitted out and openwork space. Big lounge, 3 bathrooms, completely remodelled garden, with hammocks, tables and chairs for the study or also to take meals. A kitchen was also fitted out and a library will enjoy the amateurs.

Tuition Programs

• 1 lesson: 50 minutes
• Minimum age: 17
• Schedule: from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. depending on the program chosen
• Maximum 6 students per class.
• All levels available

• Multi media centre and library.
• Access to Internet and email
• VIP course: full private program for those who need very urgent knowledge of Portuguese. Choice between 30 or 50 lessons per week, dinner with the teacher included from Monday to Friday
• Cultural and social program included: visit of Market place, movies, sports, theatre, beach, sugar factory, distillery, ...........
• Numbers of excursions available to be paid on site: Salvador de Bahia, Recife, ......
• The school also proposes on the spot dancing lessons (Samba, Forro, popular dances)
• Test and certificate of linguistic training

Our prices are available from January 1st to December 31, 2004.These prices never include the plane ticket.

Our greeting families are recruited with great care. The criteria of selection are very rigorous and each family must satisfy a precise schedule of conditions: excellent morality, desire to communicate with their host, satisfactory social standing.

We should specify that the families will only speak with you the language of the country where you will be. It is the principle of the immersion courses!

City information

The name "Maceió" originates from the Tupi Indians. The city was founded in 1815 and for a long time was an important place for trading tropical woods. Today mainly sugar and tobacco are exported. More than 500,000 inhabitants live in the capital of the federal state Alagoas. Maceió is situated on the coast and offers various beautiful beaches. In comparison to other Brazilian cities, Maceió is a fairly safe place.Maceio, located in the northeastern Brazil, is the capital of Alagoas State (second smallest of Brazils' states) in the Bahia region. Bahia is home to many Brazilian writers, poets, artists and actors. The city dates from 1815, when it started as a small settlement. In 1839 it was granted city status.

Beaches in Maceio are sheltered from the open ocean by reefs. This creates natural pools and shallow waters, plus beautiful, intricate patterns in the sand from the tides. On Sundays, the venue along the beach is closed to automobile traffic and open only for walking and cycling.
